Partners and collaborators

For the development/updating of evidence-based guidelines and respective quality assurance schemes subject to this web-hub, the European Commission (the Commission) works with experts in the relevant fields, selected through open calls. The decision-making bodies are called ‘working groups’. The working groups operate with the support of topic-specific groups. The lists with the members of the working and topic-specific groups are accessible from dedicated pages of each Commission initiative.  

The Commission furthermore interacts with a broad network of partners and collaborators who contribute with specialised knowledge and practical insights on specific topics. 

Importantly, independent systematic review teams synthesise the scientific evidence underpinning the guidelines and quality assurance schemes. Their analyses inform the final decisions, which are taken collectively by the initiatives’ working groups. The initiatives are further supported by partners and collaborators in practical and technical capacities including software development (e.g. knowledge management tools), expert training and editorial and communications services. 

Regular collaboration with international partner organisations and in particular EU Joint Actions constitutes a significant resource for discussion, exchange of ideas and finally aiming for alignment of the efforts across related EU and national initiatives. These interactions foster synergies, enhance coordination, and help avoid the duplication of work, ultimately benefiting healthcare providers and patients alike.  

The national contact points furthermore provide country-specific perspectives on healthcare systems, organisation of screening programmes, legislation or certification and accreditation programmes. Their feedback helps assess the feasibility of implementing guidelines and quality assurance schemes at the national level. They also play a key role in disseminating open calls and outcomes within their respective countries. 

The Commission engages with Horizon 2020 experts or other experts on an ad hoc basis, enriching discussions and activities with targeted expertise. The following table provides an overview of collaborators (starting with 2014-2015), listed in alphabetical order, together with their respective main areas of expertise with which they were/are contributing to the initiatives.
