General requirements for the European quality assurance schemes

Type: Other
Status: Open
Open for: Public
Deadline: 22 May 2026

IARC and the JRC are inviting feedback from cancer care professionals and organisations, and from individuals with experience of receiving cancer care, on the clarity and understandability of the updated general requirements of the European Quality Assurance (QA) schemes. General requirements apply to all care processes or departments involved in cancer care. These often relate to system-level processes which are applicable to general cancer care.

Participating in the survey will help to ensure that the European QA schemes are clear and understandable for healthcare professionals and patients. The comments collected will be analysed for potential consideration when defining the final requirements.

Participants are asked to review the wording of each of the below requirements:

  • Quality management
  • Patient centredness and information
  • Data governance
  • Adherence to guidelines
  • Patient reported outcomes
  • Professional staff and training
  • Research activities

The survey consists of multiple-choice questions with opportunities to comment. Reviewing the requirements and completing the survey will take up to 2 hours, with the option to save drafts.

However, readers should note that these documents have been written using medical and scientific language and are defined based on the methodological framework for quality assurance development, including reviews of existing literature on the topic.

The comments provided should be substantiated by evidence stating the rationale and/or supporting publications or other public documentation. In the case a reference is provided for consideration by the working group, it must state the name of authors, journal, and date of publication.

Please note contributions will not be considered if they:

  • are related to policy aspects outside the scope of the EC Initiatives on Cancer Screening and Care's activities.

You will receive acknowledgement from the system that your comments have been successfully transmitted. IARC and the JRC will accordingly assess all comments submitted in line with the aforementioned criteria.

Please note that IARC and the JRC will not provide individual responses. The assessed comments will be further evaluated by the working group and systematic review team for consideration when defining the final outputs, following the methodological framework for guideline and quality assurance development.
