Population-based screening indicators
Within the scope of ECIBC, a number of indicators were identified to evaluate the effectiveness of population-based organised screening programmes. These indicators were chosen based on a set of criteria that include relevance, measurability, accuracy, ethical considerations and understandability.
The indicators have been integrated into the European quality assurance scheme, which represents the only reference for certification to the scheme.
Self-assessment tool
The tool is being updated to reflect the first official version of the European QA scheme for breast cancer services and will be made available to the public.
The self-assessment tool is intended to help services to evaluate their readiness before pursuing certification to the European quality assurance scheme for breast cancer services.
The tool follows the modular approach of the scheme and can be used to identify gaps in compliance to the requirements of the scheme. Breast cancer services may therefore use the tool as a quality improvement exercise but also to support their decision to apply for certification.
Training template
The role of the training template is to ensure radiologists and radiographers are competent to work in breast cancer screening services.
The training template includes a list of essential skills that professionals must have and outlines the minimum training content to be included in the postgraduate curriculum in order to achieve those essential skills.
